Mitakon Speedmaster 85mm f/1.2 Full Frame Lens Officially Announced

Chinese budget lens and adapter manufacturer ZY Optics officially announced their Mitakon Speedmaster 85mm f/1.2 lens with full frame coverage. The lens is going to be priced around $799 and available at B&H soon. The Mitakon 85mm f/1.2 will be available in Nikon F, Canon EF, and Sony E mount providing full frame coverage to cameras like the Sony A7s, and Canon 5D Mark III. Here’s a link to the current lenses and adapters from ZY Optics under the Mitakon brand at B&H. In addition to lenses, ZY Optics makes the Mitakon Lens turbo adapters for Canon EF to MFT offering a budget alternative to the much more expensive Metabones Speed Booster adapters, however there have been some reports that the optics inside the adapter may not offer the same performance as the Metabones counterpart.

Nonetheless, the Speedmaster f/1.2 from Mitakon covers Full frame, therefore can be used on almost any camera with interchangeable lenses in the aforementioned adapters or even on MFT mount cameras like the GH4 with the appropriate adapters. Featuring 9 elements in 6 groups and a fast aperture of f/1.2, this portrait lens should offer significantly improved performance over their previous lenses.
