The new Sony FS7 II has just started shipping and renowned pro camera accessories maker Vocas are quick on the draw as they have some new dedicated accessories for the Sony FS7 II (that also fit the OG FS7). The Sony FS7M2 might have been a surprise announcement back in November last year, and time will tell if the “Mark II” will become the new de-facto “benchmark standard” Super35 pro camcorder for mid-tier 4K and HD acquisition much like the primo FS7 did.
Whether the new ergonomic improvements in the viewfinder mounting, extra assignable buttons and tool-less adjustment for the handgrip in combination with the new Electronic Variable ND and locking type E- mount are enough to sway you towards the Mark II, Vocas have been working hard to get their new accessories out in time for the cameras release.
New VOCAS Accessories for Sony FS7 II:
- Updated Sony FS7 II Baseplate MKII (0350-1700) – €650
Despite the fact that not much has changed in the FS7 II under carriage, the new Vocas baseplate for the FS7 II features a new removable and adjustable shoulder pad as well as 5 separate mounting points between the Vocas baseplate and the FS7 II giving you a much more stable connection.
15mm bar holders at the front and the rear of the plate come as standard. You can even adjust the VCT-14 mushroom lock at the back without any tools, which is not a feature that any other plates offer to my knowledge. Like all the other FS7 II accessories this baseplate is also backwards compatible with the FS7.
- Top H-Cheese plate with 15mm rod support (0350-1367) – €225
The new top mounted Cheese plate is similar in design to the older one for the FS7, however the new plate includes 15mm spaced holes for industry standard 15mm rods. This way you can mount your follow focus or FIZ motors for remote lens control.
- Top mounted PL support for Vocas PL to E mount adapter (0900-0027) – €115
The new overhead PL support can be mounted on the H-cheese plate to support the Vocas E-mount to PL adapter when working with heavier cine lenses. The old model support for the same PL to E adapter was mounted on the bottom 15mm rods, however the new locking type E-mount prevents the older support to be used here, hence the new PL support ring mounts from the top.
- New Adapter Plate for USBP-15 MKII (0350-2255) – €135
Designed to accommodate the contour of the FS7 II to fit the Vocas Universal Baseplate MKII. Once attached to the camera (with 5 mounting points) you get extra stability and also the ability to quickly remove the camera from the USBP-15 MKII via a QR mechanism as seen below.
Note, that the dedicated set including the new adapter plate above and the USBP-15 MKII plate for FS7 II is priced at €695.
