Samyang are expanding their AF lineup of lenses. The newest lens is a 35mm f2.8 AF designed to cover full-frame 35mm sensors, namely the ones in the Sony A7S II and A7R II cameras. Of course the a9 and much smaller (and APS-C) a6500 are fair game. The Samyang AF 35mm F2.8 FE weighs just 85 grams and measures 3.3cm in length (without the hood and rear cap), making it great for street and travel photography. Video users with compact single grip gimbals and a6500’s or Sony A7s cameras need to pay attention here – this is a good option for a lightweight lens and a not-so-wide perspective, great for tracking shots. Plus, the new Samyang 35mm is priced at $300, which makes it 2.5x cheaper than Sony’s own 35mm f2.8 FE, which is $800.
