Global data storage technology leader Western Digital just announced the brand new G-DRIVE mobile SSD R-Series devices. Billed as the fastest G-Technology portable SSDs, R-Series utilizes the latest USB 3.1 gen 2 interface and can reach transfer speeds of 560MB/s depending on the used hardware.

Besides that, the latest R-Series SSDs are built using hand-picked components and can withstand even the toughest conditions in the field due to their extremely rugged design. The new mobile SSDs have an International Protection Rating of 67 (IP67) for water and dust resistance and have been tested to withstand up to a 3-meter drop as well as 1000 lbs of pressure.
