The Sony A7s already took the compact mirorrless camera world by storm with its exceptional low light capabilities, superb video functionality, its Full Frame 35mm Sensor, and the ability to deliver equally high-quality still images and video even in the most challenging lighting conditions. Yet, there is an awkward hardware issue that continues to frustrate many shooters while using the video mode of the camera.
Generally, it’s a bit tricky to get used to the A7s external dials and buttons, especially with the Recording Button. It’s not only too small but is also awkwardly placed on right side of the grip often being too hard to be located. Many of you who already had the chance to play with the camera are quite familiar with this flaw and know well exactly how annoying it can be.
Fortunately, Cineasy Touch has come up with a simple, low-cost solution called the Cineasy Touch Button Enhancement.
The Cineasy Touch Button Enhancement is very intuitive and extremely responsive. The installation of the device shouldn’t take you more than a minute as it attaches to the neck strap eyelet nearest the video button with the included screw. The solution also provides a larger point of contact that can be easily found without removing your eye from the viewfinder of your Sony A7s.
Furthermore, the users of the Sony A6000 can also purchase a Cineasy Touch Button for their camera. However, the modification, in this case, is a little bit different. The only drawback is that you will not be able to attach a neck strap while the Cineasy is attached, which shouldn’t be a big concern especially for professional shooters who predominately rig the camera in one way or another.
Having such a useful enhancement for your Sony A7s or any other of the rest Cineasy Touch supported cameras is always a welcomed improvement and another great way to enhance your workflow when working on a project. Whether we like it or not, like any other piece of equipment these cameras are not perfect and we should embrace their strengths and weaknesses and find some workarounds in order to utilise them more efficiently.
Yet, the ability to trigger the recording of every camera properly is extremely important, so kudos to Cineasy Touch for finding a reasonable solution for this small, but a really annoying issue.
For the moment, the Cineasy Touch Button Enhancement comes in two different modifications providing compatibility with the Sony A7s, A7, A7R and A6000. If you want to purchase the solution head on over to Cineasy website or look for it on eBay.
