More flexible LED lights from BVE 2018, but this one is extra “bendy”. Aladdin have been making very versatile and high-quality LED lights for some time now (and some really sturdy and compact camera top lights to, such as the super-tiny EYE-Lite), and for the past few months since IBC 2017, they’ve been showing off their latest Aladdin FABRIC-LITE, which is not only flexible, but now also foldable.
The Aladdin Fabric-Lite has a square shape (90 cm x 90 cm or 3 x 3 ft), and it comes in either a 200w Bi-Colour or a more powerful, 350w option. The super-flexible, or should I say – foldable design makes it easy to carry around or neatly fold away for transport. The FABRIC-LITE fits into a tubular frame to give it a more rigid support enabling you to mount a diffuser and a grid for more control. The Fabric-Lite can also be used via mains or V-mount batteries, in is also dimmable.
The innovative foldable design, creates endless mounting options for the Aladdin Fabric-Lite, including all types of butterfly, overhead, wall and ceiling mounts, thanks to the integrated velcro and grommets. Each 3×3-foot fabric panel can be used separately, or combined with others to create panels as large as 12×12 feet.
At BVE 2018 I had a chance to chat with Ossie Jung, Director at UK distributor Prolight Direct Ltd about the latest Aladdin foldable light and how it can benefit your productions.

At BVE 2018, Prolight had a brand-new LED light from Aladdin on their stand they call the BI-FLEX M7 (or Micro70). The new 1 x 1 panels uses Micro LED Technology, which uses more powerful LED units with a total output of 70w instead of 50w as in the previous 1 x 1 version.
The new Aladdin BI-FLEX M7 can be operated from main power supply or battery and also features an improved dimmer with integrated V-mount plate. The new dimmer gives better indication of colour temperature and brightness, and has a couple of velcro attachments that make it easy to hold the AC power supply on the other side.
What’s included with the BI-FLEX M7:
LED Panel (Bi-Color), Dimmer Unit (V-Lock Battery Plate), AC Adapter, X-Bend holder, Ball Head stand mount, Basic Cable (2m), Extension cable (5m), Diffuser, Soft case
Another neat new features is the snap-on DMX unit, which has 2 inputs allowing you to hook up the new Micro 70 Flex LED to a control box and adjust the light remotely. The new Bi-Flex M7 (or Micro70) is available for £699 UK + VAT.
