DJI has just introduced its latest offering – the Action 2 Camera. In a nutshell, it’s a small-sized modular system that can be easily customized depending on the shooting environment and your specific needs.
The camera sports a 1/1.7″ CMOS sensor alongside an F/2.8 fixed lens on the front. There’s also an external 1.76″ OLED screen that you can clip onto the bottom of the camera which is additionally protected by Gorilla Glass. On top, the Action 2 features 32GB of built-in internal memory. Optionally, you can use a microSD card slot which is available on both the optional touchscreen module and battery module where you can record up to 256GB.
Beyond that, the Action 2 can record up to DCI-compliant 4K up to 60fps, UHD 4K video up to 120fps as well as 1080p up to whopping 240fps using MP4 (H.2.64/HEVC) at up to 130Mbps.
You can also record time-lapses in either 4K (UHD), 2.7K, or HD at intervals ranging from 0.5s to 5 hours. The built-in battery of the camera, on the other hand, can last for up to 50 minutes. Users can also get an optional external battery that will increase the operating time out to 180 minutes.

When it comes to audio, the Action 2 features the DJI Matrix Stereo system which consists of four microphones. There’s also an optional DJI Mic which has a recording range of up to 200 meters and is compatible with Action 2, smartphones, and any device that has a 3.5mm audio input. The transmitters deliver up to 7.5 hours of battery life.
The brand new camera itself is waterproofed up to a depth of 10m / 32.8′, but if you want to use it with the Dual-Screen module, a waterproof case is required to get full protection.
Last but not least, the Action 2 features DJI’s Rocksteady EIS electronic image stabilization system along with a new HorizonSteady feature that locks the frame to a level horizon for even better results.
