Teradek Now Supports Sony’s Ci Cloud Workflow

Teradek has announced that it will integrate Sony’s Ci Camera to Cloud workflow into its Teradek Prism Flex and Teradek Serv 4K wireless devices. The integration will provide native support for Sony Ci Media Cloud with HDR encoding and mobile upload directly from Teradek’s products.

“Sony and Teradek are industry standards in the content creation and production space,” said David Rosen, Vice President of Cloud Applications and Services, Sony Electronics.

“Leveraging our combined strengths, this integration will enable a reliable and effortless workflow that allows content creators to work with the tools they love and stay focused on their vision with full confidence in the underlying technology.”

Through the integration, film and broadcast teams will be able to stream, review, edit and deliver proxy files immediately after cut, giving post-production houses a chance to begin the editing, color grading, and visual effects processes immediately after the director yells “cut.”

With accurate metadata and timecode synchronization, the Teradek system will upload 4K HDR media files, plus frame accurate proxies with annotation where necessary. Content can then be securely shared with military-grade 256-bit end-to-end encryption and commented on without it ever leaving the cloud.

“Teradek has become the leader in on-set encoding and cloud streaming,” added Colin McDonald, Product Manager for Teradek Cine. “We are excited to enable these same cloud workflows and integrations for Sony’s established user base.”

Teradek’s Serv 4K and Prism Flex wireless streaming devices can connect to the Ci service with a unique eight-digit code, for simple acquisition with no additional setup required. The Serv 4K also provides a connection to a local iPad client for easy review on set.

Once connected, the two Teradek devices can encode all footage being captured and upload them in full resolution, or with proxy files with complete security, even when in remote locations through cellular connections.

Sony’s Ci Camera to Cloud network provides content acquisition portals, real-time collaboration, automated transcoding, rough cut editing, QC, and archive functionality in a single central hub without duplicating files across multiple systems.

Account managers can also create team permissions, and provide links to review and comment without exposing the originals.

It will also allow productions to onboard team members without user limits and create a fully customizable target folder structure, giving teams the freedom to work the way they like. The new integration launch is planned for the Fall of 2022.
