Wanting to tap into the millions of content creators sharing media around the world, Insta360 announced that their next generation X3 360 action camera is so good that there’s “no better device for capturing creative and unique content for social media.”
The X3 has a 1/2 inch 48MP image sensor capable of capturing 5.7K 360° video or massive 72 MP still images. The X3 can also capture 8K time lapses in the entire 360-degree spectrum.
The X3 can double as either a 360° camera or a standard action camera in single lens mode, providing ultra-wide 4K video. The camera’s intuitive artificial intelligence is capable of reframing the image to get the most out of an action shot automatically.
The camera can also capture video in multiple aspect ratios, including for a 4:5 Instagram post or a 9:16 TikTok video without losing any image quality.
Coupled with a new Active HDR mode, the camera can stabilize action footage, reduce ghosting and reveal details that the company says other action cameras would miss in under-exposed areas.

The X3 also includes special features including the “Invisible Selfie Stick” mode, which will stitch out the content creator’s selfie stick, making it look like the third-person point of view is being captured in mid-air.
Me mode also provides invisible selfie shots at 60 frames per second without reframing.
Also in single lens mode, the X3 can capture a 170° degree field of view in MaxView mode, capturing a maximum 2.7K image for more immersive POV videos.
The camera can also capture the infamous Matrix-style “Bullet Time” slow motion effect, by swinging the camera overhead in a circle at resolutions of 4K 120fps and 3K 180fps.

For image stabilization, while the camera is on the move, the Insta360 X6 offers six-axis gyroscopic Flowstate stabilization which can keep the camera rock steady throughout the entire 360° spin and has Horizon Lock when the camera is completely rotated, like in a barrel roll.
Other features of the Insta360 X3 include a 2.29” tempered glass touchscreen, direction focus audio that follows the action, four easy-to-control buttons, an 1800 mAh battery, and waterproofing up to 33 feet (10m).
Insta360’s AI-powered mobile app can also curate available clips to create a cinematic and entertaining clip of the day’s content, while Shot Lab adds up to 30 different effects including Street lapse hyper laps or Sky Swap to improve the sky above.
