Canon has announced a new RF Mount Telephoto Lens, but users in the US may have to wait some time before they can purchase it.
The RF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 expands the focal length range for R System cameras, offering a lightweight telephoto option that has a nostalgic feel reminiscent of 90s optics.

Featuring a single large zoom ring, the RF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 allows you to adjust the focal length with just a quarter turn. This lens is ideal for sports and nature content creators looking to capture subjects from great distances.
It provides full-frame coverage, and when mounted on APS-C platforms, it offers an impressive equivalent focal range of 120-480mm.
Despite its long reach, the lens serves as an excellent portrait option, delivering pleasing bokeh even at full zoom. With a seven-bladed aperture, it produces soft, round bokeh and creates excellent subject-background separation for a cinematic effect.
Optically, the lens is composed of 13 elements arranged in 9 groups, with Super Spectra lens coatings that help reduce lens flare and enhance contrast.
It boasts an angle of view of 27° horizontally, 18° vertically, and 32° diagonally, along with a maximum magnification of .06-.25 throughout the entire focal length. The minimum focusing distance is 1.5 meters when fully extended.

The RF 75-300mm lens supports Dual Pixel AF II autofocus and uses DC lens motors for fast focusing and reliable tracking with minimal lens breathing.
However, it lacks in-body image stabilization, which is a drawback in this advanced era.
Compact in size, the lens measures 146.1mm when stored, has a diameter of 71.2mm, and features a filter diameter of 58mm. It weighs 507g (17.88 ounces).
Pricing and Availability
Currently, the Canon RF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 telephoto RF mount lens is exclusively available in the United Kingdom, priced at £289 plus VAT, translating to about $390.
When it becomes available in the US, users should also anticipate additional tariff charges due to current US trade policies.
Considering that Canon’s existing EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 Mk. III is priced around $199, it may be more practical to purchase that lens along with an EF to RF mount adapter for $129 until the situation stabilizes.
