DZOFilm Launches New Lustre Cinema Primes

DZOFILM has introduced the Arles Lustre Cinema Prime line of lenses, featuring an impressive T1.6 speed rating for most of the collection, combined with a vintage-inspired aesthetic.

By merging cutting-edge optics with artistic character, the new Lustre Cinema Primes deliver a nostalgic vibe enhanced by modern technology.

The lenses feature a T1.6 aperture speed rating for focal lengths from 21mm to 100mm, while the 14mm, 135mm, and 180mm lenses have a T2.2 rating.

And while the Lustre lenses are slightly slower than the original Arles series primes, which boasted a T1.4 rating, the Lustre line maintains a similarly flawless and clean appearance characterized by its soft amber flares and dreamy, low-contrast rendering, which the company calls the “Lustre Look.”

These lenses provide full-frame Vista Vision coverage and support aspect ratios up to IMAX, thanks to a 16-bladed aperture that creates a creamy, cinematic bokeh.

You can choose from ten focal lengths: 14mm, 21mm, 25mm, 35mm, 40mm, 50mm, 75mm, 100mm, 135mm, and 180mm, or get the entire 10-lens set. The unique optical configurations for each lens are as follows:

  •  The 14mm lens features 15 elements in 17 groups, including twin aspherical elements (also found in the 21mm and 25mm lenses) to minimize aberrations while embracing warm vintage lens flares.
  • The 21mm to 35mm lenses consist of 14 elements arranged in 12 groups.
  • The 40mm lens contains 13 elements across 11 groups.
  • The 50mm and 75mm lenses each have 13 elements in 9 groups.
  • The 100mm lens contains 13 elements in 8 groups.
  • The 135mm and 180mm lenses comprise 12 elements in 8 and 9 groups, respectively.

The angle of view ranges from 15° to 115°, depending on the focal length.

Lightweight and easy to handle, each lens weighs between 1.4kg and 1.9kg, making them ideal for handheld shooting, gimbal stabilization, or aerial cinematography when attached to a drone.

They offer manual aperture control ranging from 65° to 90°, manual focusing with a 270° rotation, and a close focus range of 0.28m to 1.07m (11 inches to 3 feet 6 inches) along the focal length.

All ten lenses provide a large format image circle of 46.5mm, supporting both Vista Vision and IMAX aspect ratios.

The overall lengths of the lenses are 121.8mm for PL mount models from 14mm to 100mm and 130.8mm for the 135mm to 180mm lenses.

For EF mount models, the lengths are 129.8mm for 14mm to 100mm and 138.8mm for 135mm to 180mm.

The flange distance is 52mm for PL mount lenses and 44mm for EF mount lenses. All lenses feature a gear pitch of 0.8 Mod and a front diameter of 95mm, ensuring compatibility with standard filters and matte boxes.
