Mavis Camera App Introduces Support for Atomos Ninja Phone

The Mavis Camera app, a comprehensive cinema camera application for the iPhone, has rolled out an update that adds support for the Atomos Ninja Phone Video Co-Processor.

With version 7.0, content creators can now capture video through the Ninja Phone and connect professional cameras and lenses via HDMI to iPhones and iPads.

Renowned for its intuitive and ergonomic control, the Mavis Camera app allows users to manually adjust recording formats, frame rates, color balance, focus, and more.

It also offers professional-grade monitoring tools, including focus peaking, false color, zebras, waveform, timecode, and vectorscope.

This ensures that creators have complete freedom to fine-tune color and dynamic range.

Alternatively, users can switch to full auto mode, letting the app handle decisions so they can concentrate on capturing the perfect shot quickly.

The Atomos Ninja Phone has recently been updated to expand its compatibility beyond the Pro and Pro Max models, now including all iOS devices running iOS 18 or later.

Atomos CEO Peter Barber stated, “By extending compatibility to all iOS 18 devices, the Ninja Phone is no longer limited to the latest Pro models.

Now, older iPhones and iPads can be utilized within a professional workflow, extending the life of older gear.”

When paired with the latest Mavis app, the Atomos Ninja Phone enables 10-bit video encoding and serves as a bridge linking iOS mobile devices to professional cinema and mirrorless cameras.

Content creators can capture in ProRes, H.265, or H.264 formats and even live stream.

The Mavis update also allows users to leverage camera-to-cloud operations through Frame.io, advanced audio mixing, and multi-track ISO audio recording.

Users can now record high-resolution video on a cinema or mirrorless camera while allowing the Ninja Phone to separately record lower-resolution proxy files.

These proxy files can be uploaded to Frame.io, enabling post-production teams to start editing the day’s footage in real time.

Additionally, live streaming capabilities allow creators to broadcast to social media platforms and video portals using RTMP or SRT.

By broadening support for the Atomos Ninja Phone, the Mavis app provides users with another professional-grade tool for capturing high-resolution, cinematic-quality content ready to share with the world.

Whether live streaming or optimizing post-production workflow, it significantly enhances mobile filmmaking capabilities.
