DJI has launched the third generation of its popular DJI Mic wireless system.
The DJI Mic 3 features a smaller design and offers 32-bit float internal recording, marking a significant advancement in professional-grade wireless audio recording.
This compact, lightweight, and discreet mic provides flexible usage, adaptive gain control, dual-level noise cancellation, and multiple voice presets. Let’s explore the details.

Designed for maximum convenience, the DJI Mic 3 weighs only 16 grams.
It includes a detachable rotating clip that can be adjusted for optimal audio capture and can be worn using either a magnetic or clip-on attachment.

Internally, the Mic 3 grants content creators an impressive level of control with its intelligent features.
It comes with dual adaptive gain control modes, three voice tone presets, and dual-level noise cancellation.
The adaptive gain control includes two modes: Automatic, which prevents clipping in outdoor environments like sporting events, and Dynamic Mode, which adjusts mic gain in real time based on ambient audio conditions, ensuring consistent volume in indoor settings.

With three voice presets — regular, rich, and bright — the mic captures audio effectively, from soft whispers to loud sounds.
The dual-level active noise-canceling options further reduce background noise for crisp, clear audio. For outdoor use, optional dead cat furry windscreens – available in five colors – minimize wind noise.
Additionally, DJI has incorporated a Lossless Audio feature that allows the transmitter to send uncompressed 48kHz, 24-bit audio directly to the receiver.
The audio recording utilizes dual-file 32-bit floating internal recording with timecode support.
This dual file recording saves both the original uncompressed track and an enhanced track using DJI’s custom audio algorithms, offering either 24-bit or 32-bit floating point options for maximum dynamic range and audio fidelity.

These algorithms adapt to complex ambient audio conditions, and the Mic 3 embeds timecode data to streamline post-production processing.
DJI claims timecode accuracy so precise that it won’t deviate by even one frame within a 24-hour period, allowing for precise synchronization across multiple cameras and recording sources.
The DJI Mic 3 boasts a battery life of up to eight hours on a full charge, while the included charging case can provide an additional 2.4 full charges, totaling 28 hours of extended battery use with minimal downtime.
The system includes an Auto Power Savings mode that puts the device to sleep when idle, as well as an Auto Power Off mode for those who forget to turn it off.
When it’s time to recharge, a quick five-minute charge offers an additional two hours of use, and a full 50-minute charge restores the system completely.

This system offers wireless transmission over a range of more than 1,300 feet (396.24 m) and supports four-channel output, accommodating up to four transmitters and eight receivers.
It also features 32GB of onboard storage, a 1.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen, an onboard control dial for adjusting gain, and support for Bluetooth 5.4, along with both a 3.5mm output and headphone jack.
Finally, the system supports native connections to DJI OSMO devices and drones.
Pricing and Availability
The DJI Mic 3 is available for a retail price of $329 for a set that includes two transmitters and one receiver, or $219 for a single transmitter and receiver.
The system comes with a charging storage case that fits two transmitters and a receiver, along with all windscreens, magnetic clips, a smartphone adapter, and cables.
Users can also purchase DJI Mic 3 windscreens separately in five different colors to match clothing or environmental settings.
