ARRI has completed beta testing of its new Camera Companion App, designed to empower camera operators and assistants to fully control up to two separate ARRI cameras.
Users can enhance their experience with premium add-ons, and the app is compatible with both iOS and macOS devices, allowing for a customized interface that reflects individual preferences.

The Camera Companion App streamlines on-set workflows and can expand to accommodate nearly unlimited cameras.
Users can create new projects and even explore a simulated camera when the physical camera is unavailable.
Connecting to an actual ARRI system is easy, whether via the camera’s WiFi or the production’s on-set network.
Users can choose from a predefined layout or drag and drop control tiles according to their preferences.
They can assign an unlimited number of buttons for any camera function, and with premium access, they can set up multiple camera tabs.
This feature enables users to save custom builds by project, creating distinct interfaces for Directors of Photography (DPs) and assistants, thus saving time during setup for different cameras or users.

During beta testing, users particularly valued the ability to save builds by project, the time saved by minimizing physical camera setups, and the ability to make simultaneous adjustments to camera settings by different team members.
Instant adjustments from a monitor station and the quick matching of multiple cameras significantly streamlined workflows during critical phases of principal photography.

The app offers three access tiers. A free demo version provides basic control of a single camera, allowing users to access the camera menu for settings and recording remotely.
The standard subscription supports a second camera and offers the option to add more cameras through the premium tier.

The premium tier unlocks additional features, including lens control via ARRI’s CForce Lens motor system, adjustments to sensor sync shift, live in-camera grading using CDL, and video parameter control for the ALEXA Mini and AMIRA platforms.
The app also includes a MIDI control interface, enabling integration with various audio and camera input devices, which enhances the creator’s setup options.

The app supports a wide range of ARRI camera platforms, including the ALEXA 35, ALEXA Mini LF, ALEXA Mini, AMIRA, and ALEXA 265.
It can be downloaded for iPhone, iPad, and Mac with Apple Silicon from the Apple App Store.
Subscription rates are $65 a year (€49.00) for the standard two-camera setup and $450 (€399) for the premium unlimited tier.
Users can also choose a monthly subscription, and both tiers offer a free trial.
