The Tamron 16-30mm f/2.8 DI III VXD G2 joins the ranks of the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 and 70-180mm f/2.8 lenses as the third lens in this trio.

It employs a voice-coil eXtreme torque drive (VXD) for quick, quiet, and accurate autofocus.

This feature is especially beneficial for video content creators aiming to minimize distracting lens motor noise during filming.

This lens incorporates 16 elements arranged in 12 groups, which include three molded glass aspherical elements, one extra-low dispersion element, and two low dispersion elements.

Additionally, it features a 9-blade circular aperture that produces a smooth, round bokeh.

With a minimum focusing distance of 0.19 meters at the wide end and 0.3 meters at the telephoto end, the lens offers an overall angle of view ranging from 107° 2′ to 71° 35′ in full-frame format.

Its maximum magnification ratio is 1:5.4 for wide shots and 1:7 for telephoto.

Designed with moisture and dust resistance in mind, this lens has optics coated with a custom fluorine treatment to reduce lens flare and artifacts while maintaining sharpness and accurate color.

The design also minimizes moiré, making it perfect for capturing landscapes and architecture with minimal distortion from edge to edge.

The Tamron 16-30mm f/2.8 DI III VXD G2 maintains a relatively consistent contrast ratio from wide to telephoto when switching from full frame to APS-C mode, with only a slight drop-off as objects move farther from the center of the frame.

Ergonomically designed, the lens features a zoom ring, focus ring, and improved grip texture, enhancing comfort during use.

It is also compatible with Tamron’s Lens Utility, allowing users to customize practical functions for photography and videography.

In terms of specifications, the lens measures 101.8 mm (4.0 in) for the Sony E-mount model and 103.9 mm (4.1 in) for the Nikon Z-mount version.

It has a diameter of 74.8 mm, a filter size of 67 mm, and weighs between 440 and 450 grams.
