Teradek has released a firmware update for its CTRL.5 wireless lens controller, adding Wi-Fi Camera Control for supported RED and ARRI cameras.
This update introduces a new Camera page on the controller’s display, allowing users to view and adjust key camera settings remotely over a wireless connection.

With the firmware 2.01 update, users can now control settings such as ISO, frame rate, shutter speed, and white balance directly from the CTRL.5 unit.
These functions can also be assigned to user-defined buttons on the controller for faster access during production.
“Camera Control has always been part of our roadmap,” stated Colin McDonald, Product Manager at Teradek.
“After extensive testing, we’re launching support for RED and ARRI, and we’re working to expand compatibility to Sony and other camera manufacturers.”
The update offers several connection options.
Users can link the controller to a camera’s built-in Wi-Fi network, connect the camera to the CTRL.5’s access point, or connect both devices on a shared network using a router like Teradek’s Link AX.
Since connections are made over IP, remote control from off-site locations is also possible.

Supported RED cameras include KOMODO, V-RAPTOR, DRAGON, MONSTRO, and GEMINI.
For ARRI, the update is compatible with ALEXA 35, ALEXA Mini, ALEXA LF, AMIRA, and other models that support remote access.
Once connected, users can monitor camera status in real time and make adjustments without needing to physically interact with the camera body.
To encourage adoption, Teradek is offering the Camera Control feature as a free update for a limited time.
This offer is available to both current CTRL.5 owners and new buyers.
The firmware is now live and can be installed using the RT Desktop application.

Teradek developed this feature with feedback from beta testers, who provided valuable insights on layout, functionality, and reliability.
According to McDonald, their input significantly influenced the final release.
While the update may not dramatically shift workflows, the ability to adjust camera settings from the same unit used to control lens motors adds convenience for small crews and operators working in hard-to-reach locations.
This functionality simplifies on-set tasks by reducing the need for direct access to the camera, especially in situations where the camera is rigged or positioned remotely.
Since the feature wasn’t ready at the time of the CTRL.5 launch, Teradek will offer this update for free for a limited time.
With RED and ARRI support now in place, the company plans to continue expanding compatibility with Sony and other systems through future updates.
When available, the update will be found at Terdek.com.
