Insta360 Announces First AntiGravity Drone Model

Insta360 has generated excitement among drone enthusiasts and content creators with its new AntiGravity initiative, which focuses on 360-degree drone designs.

The company has now unveiled the AntiGravity A1, a well-thought-out immersive drone that appears to be worth the wait.

The A1 not only features an innovative 360-degree aerial cinematography design, but it also incorporates many elements found in DJI’s top-rated drones.

Equipped with a dual 180-degree lens camera system mounted above and below the drone, the A1 can capture stunning 8K video in a round format.

This design effectively makes the drone invisible in the footage, allowing viewers to experience the entire environment around them.

Utilizing Insta360’s auto-stitching technology, footage viewed through the optional Vision Goggles fully immerses the viewer in the scene.

“We didn’t want to just build another drone. We wanted to create an entirely new way to fly,” said BC Nie, Head of Marketing at AntiGravity.

“The A1 is the first step in reimagining flight as something anyone can enjoy – something that is safe, intuitive, expressive, and endlessly creative.”

Calling this new initiative as being incubated by Insta360, the company has collaborated with third-party designers. The AntiGravity A1 promises to cater to anyone interested in flying a drone while capturing content simultaneously.

With the Vision Goggles and corresponding Grip Controller, flying the A1 is straightforward and has a gentle learning curve.

Instead of using traditional stick controls, which can be confusing depending on the drone’s line of travel, the Grip Controller responds to natural hand movements, allowing users to navigate their surroundings easily.

The Goggles provide an immersive experience, making pilots feel like they are on board.

While using the Vision Goggles, pilots can leverage Insta360’s FreeMotion technology and responsive head tracking to look in any direction while controlling the drone with hand gestures via the Grip Controller.

This feature enables pilots to observe one direction while flying in another, offering them complete immersion in the scene and confidence that the drone remains stable and safe in the air.

The footage captured by the A1 mirrors the quality of Insta360’s X series of action cameras, recording from multiple angles and giving content creators the freedom to reframe shots during post-production.

This flexibility allows for dynamic camera movements, tiny planet effects, and horizon flips, all while ensuring the drone remains stable in flight.

Users can also export various angles from a single clip and in any aspect ratio, enabling them to explore different versions of the same moment in post-production to tell their story more effectively.
