Samyang have just announced their latest lens – a “tiny, but mighty” 24mm f/2.8 FE autofocus lens for Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras. The new Samyang AF 24mm f2.8 FE (also sold under the Rokinon brand in the US) appears to be positioned as “a perfect wide-angle lens for Sony photographers who want to keep their photo equipment as small and lightweight as possible without sacrificing functionality or optical quality”.
The super-compact lens boasts a footprint of only 93 grams and can be used for a vast range of subjects, from landscape, travel and architecture to street photography, group shots, and even sports due to its fast and silent autofocus.
Despite it being designed specifically for Sony’s mirrorless system cameras such as the Sony a7 III and Sony a9, the new Samyang AF 24mm f2.8 FE is also compatible with popular APS-C sensor mirrorless cameras such as the Sony a6500. The lens features a minimum focus of only 24 cm making ideal for a wide range of photography and video applications.
For example, when used with a full-frame E mount camera, the 82.1 degree field of view should give you an excellent wide angle for use with a single grip gimbal such as the DJI Ronin-S or Zhiyun Crane 2.
The Samyang AF 24mm f2.8 FE has a 49mm front filter for use with compact ND, pola and fader ND filters (or whatever filter your photo or video game fancies).

Despite its small and lightweight format, the new Samyang AF 24mm f/2.8 FE has a sophisticated optical design comprising of 7 lens elements, divided into 7 groups. To minimize optical aberrations and ensure maximum sharpness all the way to the edges, the construction also includes 3 x aspherical lens elements and 2 x HR (High Refractive) glass elements as well.
