The unit is part of a brand new series of next-generation premium full-frame lenses for high-end mirrorless cameras and DSLRs. The lineup is positioned as top premium series of full-frame size lenses and will be further expanded with other models of related specifications and performance.
Now, the very first offering of the series is available to pre-order selling for $949. The Opera 50mm f/1.4 FF comes in two mount versions – Canon EF and Nikon F. It sports a weather-sealed body and provides an extremely bright f/1.4 maximum aperture offering improved control over depth of field while shooting in difficult lighting conditions.
Other than that, the Tokina Opera 50mm f/1.4 boasts a refined optical design and also features a ring-shaped ultrasonic motor providing fast, near-silent autofocus performance. Even though the unit is designed for full-frame cameras, it can also be used with APS-C models resulting in an 80mm equivalent focal length.
For the first time in Tokina lineup, Nikon mount model incorporates an electric diaphragm mechanism that aims to deliver stable, consistent exposure results. It also should benefit working with fast continuous shooting rates.
