Budget-oriented lens maker Venus Optics just announced that the Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO lens is now available for Canon RF and Nikon Z mounts. That way, the unit comes in five different versions including Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony FE, Canon RF, and Nikon Z.
Launched back in June 2019, the Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO lens is the second 2:1 Macro lens with infinity focus in Laowa Macro Lens lineup that has been designed for full-frame coverage. Having a 100mm macro lens (that is also compact in size) with 2:1 magnification is not very common as most macro’s on the market can only achieve 1:1 (life-size) or even smaller magnification.
The innovative apochromatic (APO) design of the Laowa 100mm f/2.8 Macro reduces both longitudinal and lateral chromatic aberration to the minimal through a carefully designed optics system with 2pcs of extra-low dispersion elements in use.
Despite having the wider range, the Laowa 100mm Macro is not a huge lens. In fact, when it comes to its size, it is similar to the other 1:1 macro lens in the market.
