Zhiyun Tech, known for its line of camera and smartphone gimbals, has expanded out into the lighting category, announcing a new LED Lightwand known as the FiveRay FR100C. The 100-watt light stick is incredibly bright, able to cast nearly 21000 Lux of light at a distance of 1 meter.
The light has 100 power dimming settings and a color temperature range of 2700K-6200K. The FR100C can also do color lighting through its RGB mode. Creating a natural and authentic lighting environment.
The light has been rated at a CRI of 96, and a TLCI of 97 for color and temperature accuracy. Ziyhun says that the light is so bright, that a single unit could illuminate an entire set for a shoot.

For setting up the color temperature and hue, the light comes with a single control wheel and a few buttons for making adjustments one-handed.
The .96” OLED display offers battery light status and settings, with a control wheel to adjust across the entire range of color, temperature, and hues.
With the press of a button, the FR100C can move from Cinematic CCT mode with dual color lighting or MAX mode for standard illumination. There’s also an HSI mode that offers Hue control at 0-360°, as well as intensity and saturation control from 0-100%.

The FR100C also has a dual temperature control system, which utilizes six fans and a radiator to keep the LED light array cool over long photo shoots.
The light has an intelligent temperature control circuitry that manages power distribution and will engage the cooling fans when the temperature reaches its maximum level at 100% power.

The FR100C grip stores six 2600 mAh battery cells, which Ziyhun says can power the light “for hours,” but when delving deeper into the specs, the light only has a battery life of about a half-hour at full power, and five hours at 10%.
The LED light takes about 2.5 hours to recharge via USB-C fast charging, or with the optional 120W power supply which can also provide continual power on set.

Lastly, the FR100C has a frosted diffuser built-in to eliminate hotspots from the bright LED array and a 1/4-20 tripod mount for setting up with traditional lighting schemes, and there’s an optional mini tripod available with the combo kit.
The retail price for the Zhiyun Tech FR100C LED Light Want is $199 and comes in either black or white colors. A combo pack is available for $249 which includes the 120w AC power supply.
