Another big announcement is coming from Amsterdam and IBC 2022. This time around it’s from Fujifilm. The company has just announced its flagship Fujifilm X-H2.
The newcomer is touted as the highest-resolution APS-C digital camera on the market boasting a brand new 40.2MP BSI APS-C sensor capable of shooting native 8K 10-bit video up to 30fps using three different flavors of Apple ProRes. The remarkable resolution allows for 2x digital zoom and has up to 13 stops of dynamic range.
You can also record in 12-bit using Apple ProRes Raw and Blackmagic Raw to external devices via the full-size HDMI Type A port. When recording with the F-Log2 color profile, the X-H2’s dynamic range extends to 13+ stops – a 1-stop improvement over the previous sensor.
The X-H2 can record continuously for up to 160 minutes at 77°F, plus you can extend that to 240 minutes with the optional X-H2 clip-on FAN-001 Cooling Fan.
Furthermore, the unit features in-body image stabilization with an impressive 7 stops of compensation, as well as a new algorithm that improves motion detection with subjects to provide better results when following moving subjects in both stills and videos.
Of course, the X-H2 also comes equipped with Fujifilm’s famous film simulations for creative film-based exploration of your scenes.
The camera body supports wireless image transfer through the Fujifilm Remote Camera App and natively delivers webcam resolutions of up to 4K/60P for live streaming.
Other noteworthy features include 5.76m-Dot OLED EVF and 3” Vari-Angle Touchscreen, 160MP Pixel Shift Multi-Shot Mode, CFexpress Type B and SD UHS-II Card Slots, ISO ranges from ISO 125 to ISO 12800, with expanded options in each direction, and much more.
The CFexpress Type B slot on the X-H2 should be prioritized for higher bitrate video recording and fast continuous shooting, whereas the SD slot is a convenient alternative for backups or less speed-critical shooting.
