Memory Card company Nextorage is going after the portable storage market with a vengeance by announcing the NX-P2SE Portable SSD Drive.
The drive, which represents the company’s first foray outside of flash-based memory cards, is extremely compact and offers peak transfer speeds.
The NX-P2SE Portable SSD drive comes in two capacities … a 1TB and 2TB drive with 3 TLC NAND Flash memory. With a USB-C connection, the P2SE promises transfer speeds up to 1,050 MB/s (reading) and 1,000 MB/s (writing).

There is one caveat, however. To achieve those speeds, users must have a computer or other device that supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 with 10Gbps throughput.
The drive is also formatted using the exFAT file format protocol, giving it extreme compatibility with a wide variety of products.
The drive is compatible with both Windows and MacOS, as well as mobile devices such as Smartphones (except the iPhone), Tablets and there is even support for gaming consoles like the Playstation 5 or Xbox 1.
Nextorage also offers a compatibility list for user reference.

The device can connect using a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable and a USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable, but the drive’s rated transfer speeds will be diminished when using a USB-A cable.
Moreover, as is the usual case with media manufacturers, Nextorage touts the company’s Memory Card File Rescue utility as a feature that promises to recover data that has been mistakenly deleted or cannot be read.
The company does stop short of giving a guarantee by stating the utility will recover data “as far as possible.”
The drive weighs just 19 grams, including the stylish pleather carrying pouch, and fits in the palm of one’s hand. The drive has also been drop tested from a height of 4.9 feet (1.49 m) and can operate at temperatures ranging from 32 °F to 104 °F (0-40° C).
Pricing and availability
The Nextorage NX-P2SE has a retail price of $75 for the 1TB model and $140 for the 2TB version. Both drives also come with a three-year limited warranty. The drives are available now from Nextorage Store on Amazon.
