And in just less than two weeks, Shane takes his Masterclass on a major North American tour through 25 cities. Titled “The Illumination Experience Tour” it includes a hands-on Masterclass and Workshop, in addition to an HD Workshop download option suitable for those who cannot attend in person.
The Illumination Experience Educational Tour starts on September 14 in Irvine, CA then circles North America visiting and finishes in Los Angeles on November 15 and 16.

Shane will be sharing his best practices and techniques used to major Hollywood feature films and high-end commercials in an Intensive Workshop on Day 1 in which attendees will have the opportunity to learn how to “develop, enhance, and implement the storytelling process with lighting and camera”. Participants will learn how to decide “which qualities of light to implement for any scene by utilizing script analysis, storyboard preparation, lighting schematics, and shot lists via live demonstrations”.
Shane will also demonstrate how to manipulate the quantity and quality of light, how to diffuse, how to use color, how to create depth and separation, and how to block scenes in a way to deliver the greatest emotional impact”.
During the workshop, Shane will share his 3 step lighting process of DISCOVERY, CREATION, and EXECUTION, which will help participants deliver images with highly cinematic impact on a budget on their own productions.
Day 2 will feature a hand-on Experience Masterclass which puts the techniques from Day 1 into practice. Shane will guide filmmakers through their own shoots, showing them how he lights various scenes in different scenarios and contexts.
