A Firmware Update For The New GoPro Hero4 Just Released

The recently released GoPro Hero4 cameras still create a lot of buzz and draw more and more attention of the filmmakers community. Highly demanded features like shooting 4K at 30fps2.7K at 50fps1080p at 120fps, improved time lapse and night lapse settings, better battery performance in the same light robust body are among the improvements eagerly embraced by GoPro shooters.

Now, the GoPro Hero4 Silver and GoPro Hero4 Black receive a new firmware update for even better performance. Some of the new features that come with the latest firmware are Automatic Shutter Option and Continuous Interval for the Night Lapse Mode.

Additionally, the new Firmware version 01.02.00 increases the sharpness in various video modes of both GoPro Hero4 Silver and the GoPro Hero4 Black. Further, there is also a whole list of other performance and usability improvements.

HERO4 Black v01.02.00 new features:

Adds Automatic shutter option for Night Lapse mode
Adds Continuous interval for Night Lapse mode

Performance Improvements

Increases image sharpness in various video modes
Decreases Time Lapse shutter lag
Optimizes Time Lapse auto exposure performance for 0.5 and 1-second intervals
Decreases thumbnail load time on the LCD Touch BacPac™
Increases file transfer speed from camera to computer

Usability Improvements

Simplifies Default Mode menu
Adds 5 min option to Auto Off
Displays HiLight Tags in thumbnail gallery on the LCD Touch BacPac (3rd Generation only)
Improves swipe and playback controls on the LCD Touch BacPac (3rd Generation only)
Displays the most recent video or photo first during playback on the LCD Touch BacPac

General Improvements + Bug Fixes

Addresses an issue that may prevent pairing with the GoPro App
Addresses an issue that may disable live preview on the GoPro App
Addresses an issue that may cause the camera to appear out of range with the GoPro App
Improves battery level icon accuracy
Addresses an issue that may prevent files from being deleted
Addresses an issue which may cause the camera to  power automatically on when connected to a computer

Unfortunately, there is still no full manual exposure control that would turn GoPro’s into more usable and fully functional professional camera. Despite the absence of these features, GoPro cameras will never stop to overwhelm us with the extraordinary videos that no other camera could provide. This is exactly what I mean:

Accidentally dropping other camera from that insane altitude probably wouldn’t leave it any chance to exist any longer. However, even after that epic fall the GoPro Hero4 Black survived. And, this is only one of the reasons why we are so keen on these little cameras.
