Back in November DJI released their next generation unmanned aerial system – the 4K Inspire 1, which is expected to be available at the end of January. The 4K drone sports a futuristic slick design, abolishing the fixed landing gear design found on many earlier quadcopters. The Inspire 1 has a retractable arm system whereby the underside of each prop motor has a foot to act as a landing pod when the arms are lowered. In-flight, the arms lift up to provide the camera an unobstructed 360-degree view. A 3-axis gimbal keeps shots steady and the 4K camera pointed the same direction as the quadcopter banks and turns. The camera can be also removed for ease with transport, or be placed on a pistol grip handle gimbal as the one DJI showcased at CES 2015, which you can see in the video below.
