NAB is just around the corner and companies are eager to get their press releases out for upcoming products to be unveiled at the show. As usual, camera manufacturers are keeping their lips sealed on big camera announcements as those are bound to be the key announcements at the show. However, how good is a camera nowadays without proper accessories that make the whole package work? European based Vocas have been manufacturing high-quality and affordable accessories for the past 25 years, and they will show a few new exciting new accessories for the Sony FS7, Panasonic Varicam 35/HS, JVC LS-300 and the Alexa MINI at NAB 2015 in Las Vegas.
Show attendees will have a chance to stop by booth C10518 and check out their new MFC-2 follow focus as well as new range of custom matte boxes in different colours premièring at NAB. Here’s a list of new camera accessories Vocas will display at NAB
- Limited Edition Matte Boxes – camouflage edition, a carbon edition, on fire edition, US edition and of course a wooden edition
The matte box was one of the first first accessories for the professional cameraman that not only serves the purpose of blocking stray light from striking the surface of the lens but also as a filter holder front of the lens. The Vocas matte boxes differ with all the other available matte boxes with their patented eyebrows. The Vocas eyebrows are built-in French flags providing a comfortable and compact solution for the modern camera professional.
Apart from offering new colour choices for their custom made matte boxes, Vocas will also offer an option for rental houses to have their logo imprinted on the matte box itself.
- New Sony FS7 Hand Grip Bracket
At NAB 2015 Vocas will introduce the latest Vocas peripherals for the Sony PXW-FS7 including a new is an improved hand grip bracket (0390-0090) for the original Sony hand grip. For the earlier introduced H-cheese plate (0350-1365) Vocas developed a 15 mm single rod holder (0350-1465) for a secure and stable attachment of the viewfinder bracket.
- New Wooden Hand Grips
In addition to the leather hand grips Vocas introduces a new pair of wooden hand grips kit (0390-0122) in this style. The new wooden hand grips (proto) look fabulous and have a very good grip!
- ALEXA Mini Accessories
The new ARRI Alexa Mini Vocas accessories will be available around May 2015. Based on the dovetail principle Vocas developed for the top and at the bottom of this new camera a cheese plate and a base plate adapter. By using these new plates combined with the Vocas USBP plates the Alexa Mini becomes a shoulder camera which can be moved forwards and backwards to perfectly align the centre of gravity.
- Viewfinder Accessories
Next to the new viewfinder adapter for the Sony PXW-FS7 Vocas developed a complete range of new viewfinder adapters based on the NATO standard rail. The new viewfinder adapters are suitable for the Zacuto viewfinder (0700-0030), the Alphatron viewfinder (0700-0020) and there is a universal viewfinder adapter (0700-0010) available.
The big feature of these new Vocas viewfinders is the adjustable friction. Even with a mounted viewfinder the friction can be adjusted!
- Panasonic Varicam camera HS/35
Heavy cameras, such as the Panasonic Varicam cameras, need special attention. The Vocas R&D came to the perfect solution, a dovetail based top cheese plate (0350-1380) and base plate adapter (0490-0020). By using the dovetail principle in combination with the Vocas base plate 0350-1000 the Panasonic Varicam camera can be moved forwards and backwards to optimise the ideal point of gravity.
- Vocas USBP VCT-14 support
Especially for the USBP-15F, Vocas developed a small bracket (0350-2015) to improve the stability of the USBP-15F when using it in combination with a Sony VCT-14, Panasonic Shan 700 and look-a-likes of the different brands.
