IBC 2015: Tokina Showcases its Latest Pro Cinema Lens Lineup

The Japanese lens manufacturer Tokina continues to expand its lineup of affordable high-quality lenses along with re-designing and re-engineering some of its most acclaimed and popular models. At IBC, the company showcases the PL mount version of the 11-16mm lens which is still one of the most popular wide-angle lenses out there.

Engineered to offer superb optical 4K performance the 11-16mm T3.0 delivers sharp, consistent images throughout its zoom range providing reduced breathing and offering greatly expanded focus throw from 83 degrees up to 166 degrees. The lens is expected to hit the shelves in October for $1899.

The other popular zoom lens shown at the trade show in Amsterdam is the 16-28mm T3 full frame cine zoom lens. Beside the PL mount and EF-mount, the lens now also has an E-mount version as well. It’s the perfect fit for full frame cameras such as the Sony A7S and A7S II as it offers extremely wide-angle view along with superb image quality and precise exposure control. The lens with an E-mount is expected to ship in early 2016 with a retail price around $4,000.

At last but not least, comes the latest addition to the Tokina’s pro cine lens lineup the new full frame 100mm Cine Macro Lens available in various mounts –  PL, Canon EF, Nikon F, Micro 4/3 and Sony E-mount included.  These are all interchangeable and can be swapped over by authorised distributors to a customer’s request. The lens features an  aperture range of T2.9 to T32, a true 1:1 focus magnification along with 82mm front diameter. The 100mm Cine Macro Lens should start shipping towards the end of December for a retail price of $,2500.
