One Card To Rule Them All – Lexar Made a 1TB SD Card!

As with any memory today, the technology is advancing rapidly, getting more compact and faster. This is why we now have a 1TB SD card! A whopping data storage capacity not long ago associated only with back-up HDDs, Lexar made sure they broke the barrier of what capacity is acceptable (or at leats possible) to store at once on a single SD card.

For those of you filming events or preferring to shoot with large capacity SD cards, the new Lexar Professional 633x SDXC UHS-I card with 1 terabyte (1TB) of memory could be of interest.

The new Lexar 1TB card is rated V30, so technically 4K video recording is certainly possible, but at faster data rates and more intensive formats such as ProRes it can be problematic (ie. for those planning to use it with the BMPCC 4K chances are it will work with the lower bit rate ProRes flavours, but not in Raw). The card is also UHS-I and at 95MB/s it should do well in 1080p and lower bit rate 4K/30p.

Lexar designed this behemoth SD card for mid-range DSLR, HD camcorders, or consumer 3D cameras and aims it at those users, who frequently shoot long form content, whether on a professional or enthusiast level.

Lexar claim all their product designs undergo extensive testing in the Lexar Quality Labs, facilities with more than 1,100 digital devices, to ensure performance, quality, compatibility, and reliability. Lexar showed off their latest card and other memory technology at last week’s CES 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
