The first-ever Musicbed Challenge is on and you have until July 9th to submit a short film for a chance to win a ton of gear and grants worth about $80K! The prize pool is split in about $30K/$50+K in grants/gear from sponsors such as Wooden Camera, GoPro, Rhino, SwitchPod, RODE Microphones, SmallHD, Frame.io and many others.
The competition started on June 11th and you have a bit over 2 weeks to create a film in one of 5 categories – Music Video, Documentary, Spec Ad, Narrative, and Travel/Lifestyle for a chance to win some of those sweet prizes.
Musicbed Challenge 2019 How to Enter:
- Download the Starter Pack from Musicbed: https://challenge.musicbed.com/
- Select which of the five categories you will be entering:
- Music Video
- Spec Advert
- Travel/Lifestyle
- Narrative
- Documentary
- Use at least 10 seconds from one or more of the pre-selected Musicbed songs for each category in your film
- The length of your film submission must be at least 60 seconds (10 minutes is the maximum allowed running time)
- Submission Deadline – July 9th!

After the submission period, judges will have time to review and pick their favourites. The winners will be announced on July 19 via the Musicbed blog. After the judges have selected their winners, there will also be a crowd–sourced People’s Choice award for every category.
The Musicbed Challenge judges include Jim Cummings (Producer/Director of SXSW winner “Thunder Road”), Sam Kolder, Devin Graham (Devinsupertramp), Marlina Fletcher (MD, Stink Studios) and many more. The judges will mainly be looking for clear and focused storytelling utilizing the most out of the limited time frame of 30 days (well less than that now until July 9th), in addition to how well you can utilise the song(s) in your story.
These next-level creatives have been chosen specifically for their expertise in each category, represent some of the most talented minds working today.
Examples of prizes include a SwitchPod for every winner in each category (that’s a pretty rad monopod for all you vloggers out there), one Gnarbox 2.0 SSD (512GB), a GoPro Hero7, a year’s worth of membership to Skillshare, a SmallHD FOCUS monitor, $400 worth of credit at Wooden Camera and many more.
