In a recent newsletter, innovative anamorphic lens maker Atlas Lens Co. communicated an upcoming price increase for their already very affordable Orion 2x Anamorphic lenses that have been setting the industry ablaze ever sine their introduction at NAB 2017.
The Orion 2x Anamorphic prices are going up with $1,000 per lens, but if you make a deposit before October 1st, you can still lock-in the current pricing.
The company was founded by lead designer and cinematographer Forrest Schultz and cinematographer entrepreneur Dan Kanes with goal of building optically pleasing, mechanically robust, and modern Anamorphic lenses to meet the needs of modern cinematographers.

As we all know, anamorphic lenses from established manufacturers such as ARRI, Zeiss, Cooke command premium pricing and are most likely to be rented by cinematographers, rather then owned outright. Atlas Lens Co. went on to challenge that status quo head on with their Orion Series anamorphic lenses bridging the gap between “true” 2x anamorphic glass and reliable modern lens design.
Affordably priced currently at about $8K a piece, with discounts available for sets of 3 or more, the Orion 2x Anamorphics have been gaining popularity among indie filmmakers looking for an alternative to renting vintage and expensive legacy anamorphic.

Atlas Lens Co. is thankful for the opportunity we’ve had over the past three years to establish this new venture amongst our venerated peers. Our current focus is to shorten delivery times, improve efficiency, and continue to meet the expanding demand for our products.
Atlas Lens Co. will be raising the retail price of each Orion Series lens by $1,000 USD, on October 1st, 2019. Any deposit made prior to October 1st, 2019 will retain the original invoice pricing.
Deposit amounts will remain the same: $4,999 for a single lens, $7,995 for a set of three lenses, and $15,990 for a set of six lenses.
