It seems that RED has already shipped out the first batch of custom-colored KOMODO cameras to a selected group of content creators. Among those lucky folks are Phil Holland and Philip Grossman who have already posted a bunch of videos referring to the new Super 35 6K camera.
The first one is the hilarious video teaser posted by Phil Holland, whereas the rest of the clips shot by Philip Grossman show off the RED KOMODO capabilities in different environments, including a side-by-side comparison with the RED Helium 8K.
Now, here’s how the brand new KOMODO holds up against its bigger counterpart.
Next, a clip captured on the RED KOMODO while shooting on a gimbal.
…and finally an extreme ISO test.
Meanwhile, RED SEO Jarred Land, has also published a short video on Instagram revealing the capabilities of the latest RED CONTROL app tethered to a KOMODO.
Land tests the remote capabilities of the app that besides the camera settings, also provides more than adequate image feed from the camera to a smartphone in real-time with a minimum lag.
The next batch of RED KOMODO cameras should be shipping by the end of June, so stay tuned for more KOMODO footage as well as full specs of the camera itself.
Thus far, it has been confirmed that besides the brand new Super 35 6K sensor, the latest RED camera can record REDCODE RAW up to 6K/40fps utilizing the full sensor size. ProRes recording is also possible but you won’t be able to utilize both formats at the same time.
