OSEE T5 Budget 5.5” Monitor for the Pocket 4K, 6K & 6K Pro

Even though the Pocket 6K Pro comes equipped with a better and brighter tilting screen, it still may fall short of your exact requirements for your rig.

Or, you might still have a standard Pocket 4K or Pocket 6K and want to work better with and an on-camera monitor on top. In all those cases, you’ll want something relatively compact but effective, and for that the OSEE T5 can do the trick.

Coming from Goldwulf is a video taking a deeper dive into the features of the OSEE T5 and how it compares to other monitors in the same range.

First impressions are pretty good. It’s a 5.5” monitor with a Full HD display (it’ll accept up to 4K) and a decent design. It’s slim and small enough to work as an on-camera monitor with some standard rigging. It’s also very lightweight. The only issue with that is that it’s plastic construction can feel a bit flimsy.

Mounting is possible via a couple 1/4”-20 threads – one on the side and one on the top. The front has the single joystick for control. It’s a clean devices. On the back, there is a battery slot, DC power input, HDMI port, and SD card slot. Not much more, so if you need SDI or an HDMI out you’ll need something else.

On a more positive note, the recessed HDMI port does protect the monitor and cables while in use. Also, the battery slot is equipped to handle both Sony L-series (NP-F) or LP-E6 batteries without any additional hardware.

Software features do include more advanced functions like anamorphic de-squeeze. All the regular options are there as well, such as peaking, waveforms, etc. Plus, it comes with a sun hood and tilt mount for cold shoes.

Boot-up times were a bit sluggish and the joystick wasn’t the most ideal control solution. It’s unfortunate it is the only one. It’s not the brightest but it is decent at about 450 nits.

It’s definitely a balanced offering once you consider the price point is under $200. If you are looking for your first on-camera monitor this is a good place to start looking.

Would you consider it?
