Venus Lenses continues to expand its complement of lenses, announcing the Laowa 90mm F2.8 APO 2x Ultra Macro lens. The new lens is specifically designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras and enjoys a 2:1 magnification to infinity focus range.
The lens has an Apochromat APO design which provides better optical performance and sharpness but doesn’t sacrifice the compact design of the lens. The result is a smaller lens than competing lens designs and smoother internal focusing.

The lens is arranged with 13 elements in 10 groups, with 3 extra-low dispersion glass lens elements that Venus says suppress longitudinal and lateral chromatic aberration across in-focus and out-of-focus areas while keeping fringing and ghost to a minimum.
Since the lens is designed for mirrorless cameras, it has a shorter flange distance, which translates to a more compact and portable design. It sports a 13-bladed lens aperture, which yields what Venus calls a “smooth and creamy” bokeh.
The lens 2x ultra macro lens has a minimum focusing distance of just over eight inches (20.5cm) and can capture tiny details up close, normally missed by the human eye. It also promises sharp resolution for capturing wildlife, portraits, and product photography.
