Cosina has announced the Voigtländer Macro APO 35mm F/2 APO-Ultron lens for Fujifilm X-Monut cameras. The lens is manual focusing but has electronic contacts to transmit lens metadata to the camera.
The newcomer supports EXIF data transfer for use in focus confirmation, parallax correction, and in-body image stabilization (IBIS) functions.
The lens consists of nine elements organized in six groups, with three ultra-low dispersion lens elements. It has a ten-blade aperture iris for a hole-shaped bokeh for a nice round-shaped blur.
The 35mm F2.0 APO lens has a minimum focusing distance of about six and a half inches or .163m. The lens also has a clicked aperture ring which can control the lens speed in 1/3 stop increments.
Cosina also states that the design effectively suppresses chromatic aberration and magnification chromatic aberration in order to support higher pixel image sensors. The lens also supports focus checking and offers shooting distance interlocking display data.
The lens is compatible camera systems must have updated firmware in order to take full advantage of this feature. Here is a breakdown of the firmware required:
