Venus Optics has announced yet another addition to its Laowa line of full-frame lenses with what the company calls its fastest 28mm lens to date.
The Laowa Argue 28mm F1.2 FF is designed not only for speed but a smooth and buttery, bokeh that provides outstanding separation and depth of field.

Designed with 2 Ultra High Refractive lens elements, two extra-low dispersion glass elements, and a single aspherical glass element, the 28mm F1.2 promises sharp details with and contrast, even when wide open.
The super fast F1.2 lens aperture rating supports using faster shutter speeds in low-light environments, without the need to bump up the camera’s ISO, and has an angle of view of 75.4° for showcasing even more detail within the scene.

The slightly wider AoV compared to 35mm and 50mm, can be handy when doing street, landscape, and even environmental portraits.
This high performance is largely thanks to the lens design and the Argus 28mm’s 13-bladed aperture which also provides for a smoother and buttery round bokeh with a dreamlike flair while providing an appealing subject separation from the background as well as allowing for some illuminating backlight which can make the shallow depth of field more appealing and cinematic, like sunsets.

The Argus 28mm F1.2 is also optimized for videographers looking for a sharp, yet compact wide-angle lens to carry out in the field.
With an internal focus mechanism and an aperture ring click switch mechanism, the lens can be made silent for sound-sensitive production needs.

The lens weighs under 20 ounces (562g) and is 68.5x106mm in size with a 62mm filter thread. That makes the Argus 28mm F1.2 FF an ideal travel companion for creating travelogues or for merely capturing those so-called Kodak moments that people will cherish.
