DJI Air 3 Drone Rumored to Drop This Week

A leaked photo and product listing for the next-generation DJI Air 3 drone has found its way onto Twitter, with a rumored release date of June 28, 2023.

The listings show the UAV, plus two Fly More Combos, each with separate controllers, an optional charging up, and a host of accessories.

The leak came from a handful of drone followers on Twitter, including Deals Drone which not only outlines the product listings and shipping dates but also shows several images and a video showing flight testing.

The tweet also states that the Air 3 is designed to weigh under 500 grams which will avoid the EU’s strict C1/A1 regulations on drone registration.

The DJI Air 3 is believed to feature an improved camera sensor for 6K video with a 1/1.3 inch mid-telephoto lens for up to a 3X zoom, but it may also include a second 1/2 inch 7x zoom.

The drone is also expected to have high frame-rate video options including D-Log 10-Bit Color & 12.6-Stop RAW.

Moreover, the drone is rumored to also have enough battery life for a thirty-minute flight envelope, similar to the DJI Air 2S, an improved transmission capability thanks to DJI’s OcuSyn 3.0 Plus protocol, and Omni-directional obstacle sensing, much like the Mavic 3.

The leaked listings outline two different combos, including one with a standard DJI RC-N2 controller, and another with the upgraded RC2 controller. There is also product listings for Low Noise Propellers and an ND Filter set with stops ranging from 8-64.

The rumored DJI Air 3 drone is expected to cost a bit more than the Air 2S, with a list price of around $1060 (£860) for the drone only.

Traditionally, the Fly More combos have included a dedicated controller, up to three extra Intelligent Flight Batteries, a pair of spare propellers, Type-C and RC cables with both USB and Lightning connections, spare control sticks (Pair); a two-way charging hub and a; DJI 18W USB Charger, and a shoulder bag.

Is the DJI Air 3 worth the higher price? Well, that depends on whether DJI has made enough improvements in performance and battery life to justify the higher rate. One thing it will do is make the DJI Air 2S more appealing.

Either way, we’ll find out either this week or in early July. Keep your eyes on this space for more details.
