Lexar has announced its next-generation Silver Series media cards in both CFexpress Type B and UHS-II SD varieties. The cards will come in 128GB-512GB capacities for the professional grade Type B silver models, and 128GB-512GB for the Professional Silver Pro SDXC UHS-II variety.
Type B cards, for instance, are compatible with the VPG400 specification and are capable of read/write speeds of up to 1750 MB/second and 1300 MB/s respectively.

The cards are designed using PCIe 3.0 x2 Bus architecture and can support the writing of 8K video files. The cards are also backward compatible with cameras that take XQD media cards.

Moreover, the Lexar Silver Pro SDXC media cards meet specifications for UHS-II standard and can support a maximum read/write speed of 280 MB/S and 160 MB/s respectively for the larger 256 GB and 512 GB SD cards, while the smaller 128GB cards have a maximum write speed of 120 MB/s.
The card will also support 10-bit video recording and offers bitrates surpassing the V60 specification.

The new Silver series SD media cards enjoy a performance boost over the previous Silver grade generation, which maxed out at 270MB/sec and 180 MB/s respectively.
Therefore, while the larger cards are faster at reading data, they are just a tad slower at writing the data in the first place.
The 512GB SDXC card is capable of storing up to 530 minutes of 4K video, or over 88,000 20MP still image files. Video transfer speeds equate to about 45 seconds for a 10-minute 4K video file.

The Lexar Professional Silver Series Type B CFE Media cards are available now for a retail price of $99 for the 128 GB capacity, $129.99 for the 256 GB capacity, and $169.99 for the 512 GB capacity. Each card comes with a 10-year limited warranty and technical support.
Moreover, the new Lexar Professional Silver Pro SDXC UHS-II SD cards are available at a retail price of $49.99 for the 128 GB capacity, $95 for a two-pack; $97.99 for the 256 GB capacity, with $169.99 for a two-pack; and $179.99 for a single card in the 512GB Capacity. There is also a lifetime limited warranty.
