DJI has aimed squarely at RØDE with the release of the new DJI Mic 2 wireless microphone system.
With professional-grade features and extended range via Bluetooth, the Mic 2 looks to provide creative DJO fans with a solid alternative for recording audio.
The DJI Mic 2 captures up to 14 hours of uncompressed 24-bit audio at 48 kHz, plus a secondary -6dB safety track on each transmitter.

The transmitters come provided with 8GB of internal storage which can record for extended periods without running out of space.
32-Bit Floating Point Recording
First introduced by RØDE’s Wireless Pro in 2023, the addition of 32-bit Floating Point Recording gives the DJI Mic 2 extended audio dynamic range without clipping from a hot mic.
This feature can adapt to complex sound environments, capturing ambient sounds from quiet whispers to loud decibel levels to provide a wide variety of recording options, whether indoors or out.

The 32-bit floating point feature also saves time that goes towards balancing microphone levels before heading out to record. With the 32-bit floating point feature, users just hit record and capture the action.
Moreover, the DJI Mic 2 also features intelligent noise canceling technology, which reduces environmental noise to deliver clear vocals while working in urban environments or crowded rooms.
The Mic 2 also comes with dead cat windscreens to reduce wind noise in blustery conditions.

Extended Range
The DJI Mic 2 is capable of an impressive wireless transmission range of up to 820 feet (250 meters) in open, unobstructed environments without interference.
This range is great when recording out in the field, live streaming, or even studio recording in vast spaces.
A sleek, compact design with plenty of options
The receiver of the DJI Mic 2 comes with a 1.1-inch OLED touchscreen and a new precision dial to scroll through menus and gain quick access to on-screen information such as volume control, gain, brightness, and other audio elements.
There is also a built-in motor to provide haptic feedback for such features as on/off, muting, and noise reduction activation.
The DJI Mic 2 is ready to use anywhere with automatic pairing to the receiver, and can also link via Bluetooth smartphones, the DJI Osmo Action 4, or the Osmo Pocket 3 for hassle-free recording.
It can also connect through the included USB-C or Lightning adapters, as well as the included 3.5mm minijack TRS analog input.

All-day battery life is also a feature of the DJI Mic 2 which, in spite of its compact footprint, can operate up to 6 hours, which can be extended to 18 hours with the included charging case. Users can charge all three devices twice with the case before it too needs a recharge.
Pricing and Availability
The DJI Mic 2 is available in either shadow black or pearl white, at a remarkable retail price of just $219. This includes one transmitter and one receiver, a TRS audio cable, Type C and Lightning adapters, a windscreen, magnetic clips, a charging cable, and a carrying pouch.
There is also the two-transmitter configuration, which retails for $349 and also includes the charging case, audio splitter, and everything listed above times two.
The transmitters and receiver can also be purchased piecemeal for $99, as well as the DJI Lavalier Mic which retails for $39.
The Mic 2 charging case can also be purchased separately for $69, but if you’re going to do that, you may as well buy the two transmitter option outright.

However, this brings up an interesting thought. RØDE fans who bought the Wireless Me, were stuck without a charging case, or a way to expand their system by purchasing a secondary transmitter.
DJI has realized this shortcoming and offered the transmitter and charging case piecemeal straight out of the gate. The guys down under could learn from this.
