Just a bit over a week ago, out of the blue, GoPro announced the new Hero7 cameras. The new Hero7 Black flagship sports some serious image stabilization referred to as HyperSmooth, which according to GoPro, eliminates the need for a gimbal. The Hero7 Silver and White complete the new lineup and are targeting more budget-oriented consumers, who do not require all the bells-n-whistles of the Black variant, thus opting for a cheaper, “press-a-button-and-go” option with the Silver and White versions.
HyperSmooth also works in 4K/60p, which is great, and the Hero7 Black can also livestream to Facebook (at launch) with other social media networks to be added at a later time. As of September 27th, the Hero7 Black is shipping, so if you want to grab one, you might as well enter the $1 Million Dollar challenge that GoPro are launching. More details in the paragraphs below.
At Photokina 2018, I spoke to Isabel from GoPro about their newest Hero7 Black and White/Silver models and the latest innovations GoPro has implemented in their latest action camera.
To celebrate the release of their latest super-smooth flagship Hero7 Black, GoPro are inviting HERO7 Black owners to participate in “the Million Dollar Challenge” and shoot this year’s HERO7 Black highlight video for their cut of $1,000,000.
From Sept. 27th worldwide, Hero7 Black users can submit their best HERO7 Black raw video clips to the Million Dollar Challenge for the chance to land in the highlight video. The GoPro creative team will watch the submissions and pick their favourites to go full send into the highlight reel and be awarded an equal cut of $1 million, split amongst the individuals whose footage is selected. There is no limit as to how many clips they will select.
Submissions must be entered by 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 9, 2018 in order to be eligible for consideration. The highlight video will debut in mid-December. So, if you needed an incentive to buy a GoPro HERO7 Black and get creative, now you have a million reasons to do so!
