The Sigma fp was one of the biggest surprises in 2019. The ultra-pocketable 4K full-frame mirrorless camera was unexpectedly announced back in July and since then it has made waves in the indie filmmaking community all over the world.
Billed as the smallest and lightest full-frame mirrorless digital camera out there, the unit comes equipped with a 24.6 megapixel 35mm Bayer full-frame sensor capable of shooting internal 4K (UHD) video up to 30fps using H.264 and 12-bit CinemaDNG. As a highly demanded device, it was just a matter of time before we saw the first dedicated third-party accessories for the camera popping up.
Earlier today, popular camera accessory maker SmallRig announced a brand new camera cage for the Sigma fp. Like any other SmallRig camera cage, this one also comes with a wooden grip and plenty of accessory mounts while being build of aluminum alloy and wood.
For better sturdiness of the entire rig, the camera itself is secured with not one but two 1/4”-20 screws – one on the bottom and the other on the right side. Additionally, the cage features multiple 1/4”-20 and ARRI 3/8”-16 accessory threads that allow users to mount multiple accessories depending on the desired configuration.
Beyond that, the SmallRig Sigma fp cage sports a cold shoe mount on top, so that you can easily mount a microphone or light on the fly. You can even add a carry strap to your camera rig using the slots located on the right side of the cage.
Last but not least, this SmallRig offering comes with a built-in flat-head screwdriver for quick installation, plus it’s fully compatible with the Sigma LVF-11 LCD Viewfinder and HU-11 Hot Shoe Unit while still giving you access to a dummy battery cable on the right side.
