Canon EOS R5 to Boast 45MP Full-Frame Sensor, IBIS and 8K Video Up to 30fps

The mirrorless camera rumor mill went wild lately. After the controversial reports that Canon has three new EOS R offerings in the making from last week, earlier today Canon Rumors spilled the beans on the technical specifications regarding the mysterious EOS R5.

According to the leaked information, the upcoming camera will feature 45MP full-frame sensor, in-body image stabilization, up to 20fps electronic burst, and an insane 8K video recording up to 30fps. Filmmaker Kellan Reck has a video on the topic in which he discusses the latest rumors swirling around the web.

The recent report suggests that the newcomer will also be able to shoot 4K video up to 120fps which is something that even the flagship 1DX Mark III can’t do.

Other speculations include a new battery with the same shape and compatibility as the 5D Mark IV, built-in 5GHz WiFi, scroll wheel added to the back, Liveview/Movie toggle like previous EOS DSLRs and more.

The full-frame camera should also come equipped with built-in image stabilization providing 7-8 stops of correction when used in conjunction with a lens featuring optical stabilizer, a feature that is currently absent on the Canon EOS R and EOS RP.
