FUJIFILM GFX100S Medium Format Mirrorless Camera Introduced

Right on the heels of Sony’s Alpha 1 announcement, Fujifilm has spilled the beans on their latest medium format mirrorless camera. The brand new FUJIFILM GFX100S boasts some impressive specs like 43.8 x 32.9 mm medium format sensor with 102MP resolution capable of capturing internal 10-bit 4:2:0 4K DCI and UHD video up to 30 fps.

You can also shoot up to 60fps in 2K while using all infamous FUJIFILM film simulations along with a brand new one called Nostalgic Neg. Additionally, you can record 12-bit 4K ProRes RAW using the Atomos Ninja V recorder if this particular option makes more sense.

The just-announced medium format camera has an impressively compact and portable body design with a durable construction.

The 102MP 44 x 33mm BSI CMOS sensor combined with the quad-core X-Processor 4 can output 16-bit Raw images with a broad dynamic range, low noise levels, and sensitivity to an ISO 12800 (further extendable to ISO 50-102400).

The GFX100S also features a fixed 3.69m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder along with a 3.2″ 2.36m-dot touchscreen LCD with a unique three-way tilting design for image playback, menu navigation, and live view shooting.

Optionally, a 1.8″ sub LCD monitor on the top plate can be used to quickly view shooting settings and exposure data.

Other noteworthy features include a hybrid AF system with 425 selectable phase-detection points, 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilization that compensates for up to 6 stops of camera shake, HLG recording, Rec.2100 support, Dual UHS-II SD memory card slots, a 3.5mm microphone jack and 3.5mm headphone jack, integrated Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi connectivity, and more.

The Fujifilm GFX100S is powered by a single NP-W235 rechargeable lithium-ion battery which should provide approximately 460 shots when fully charged.
