Atomos Ninja V+ Now Records 8K ProRes RAW Up to 30fps from the Canon R5 C

Atomos has just released AtomOS 10.73, which includes Apple ProRes RAW support on the Ninja V and Ninja V+ for the new Canon EOS R5 C camera. With the new firmware, filmmakers will be able to record ProRes RAW at up to 8K at 30fps with the Ninja V+.

In addition to 8K30p recording, the Ninja V+ provides support for 6K at 50fps and 60fps. It’s also worth mentioning that both the Ninja V/V+ monitor/recorders offer support for 6K up to 30fps and 3K up to 60fps when tethered to the Canon R5 C respectively.

With this release, Atomos and Canon continue to redefine what is possible with compact, lightweight camera systems. The ability to capture pristine 8K ProRes RAW in a camera of this size and form factor represents a ground-breaking advance.

While an 8K deliverable may seem rare today, filmmakers understand that such a large image not only provides a method of future-proofing their work but also creates a range of flexible options in post for HD and 4K films.

The EOS R5 C is the latest model in the Canon Cinema EOS lineup. It has been designed for professional filmmakers seeking high performance and epic quality.

The EOS R5 C features a new heat dissipation system to allow for extended takes and prolonged production days, professional timecode input/output connectors, and a new standardized multi-accessory shoe first seen on the EOS R3.
