SmallHD Unveils Trio of New 5-inch Touchscreen Monitors

At NAB 2022, SmallHD has announced a trio of new 5 -inch touch screen monitors. Dubbed the Ultra 5, Cine 5, and Indie 5 displays, including two wireless models of the Ultra 5, the five displays will be driven by SmallHD’s PageOS 5 software tool kit and are designed to fit into any production need or budget.

With separate tiers of brightness, I/O capability, and interface options, the Ultra, Cine, and Indie come equipped with multi-touch interfaces, while the Cine 5 adds a navigation joystick and back button for camera control functions. The Ultra 5 provides additional customizable buttons for individualizing workflows and software functions.

Each monitor is built with an anodized aluminum unbody chassis and multiple mounting points. All three are driven by PageOS 5 with quick and repeatable setups and a toolset that includes EL Zone Exposure Assist, Waveform, false color monitor screens, and Look-Around Camera Control.

There are also advanced Teradek RT Overlays, 1080p HD resolution, and 4:2:2 10-bit color.

After that, the monitors diverge:

“Customers can choose from three great product offerings,” said Dave Bredbury, Production Manager for SmallHD. “For example, if someone wants the top-of-the-line 3000nit powerhouse with physical buttons and an ethernet port, we have the Ultra 5,” adds Bredbury.

“If they want to save some money but still be able to control their RED KOMODO® with a daylight-viewable touchscreen, then the Indie 5 or Cine 5 would be the way to go.”

As stated by Bredbury, the Ultra 5 has a super bright 3000nit screen, 2x 3G-SDI (I/O) 2x HDMI 2.0 (I/O), an ethernet port for optional ARRI & Sony VENICE* camera control, 2-pin locking power connector, and a locking 5-pin USB (for RED Camera Control**).

Both wireless models have 6GHz wifi connectivity and full wireless FIZ control of the Teradek RT.

The RX monitor can also be powered by Gold mount or V mount battery options, and both Ultra 5 wireless models support all Bolt 4K devices.
