Acrovid Introduces New AI Plugin for Chroma Key Repair

Acrovid has announced a new plugin that has the potential to fix the green screen bleeding and compression artifacts that often make chroma key videos unusable.

Acrovid SuperChroma AI analyzes chroma key video footage and removes sub-sampling artifacts and bleeding without affecting the video’s important Luma Channel metadata.

SuperChroma AI is optimized with Nvidia, AMD, and Intel Graphics processors to provide fast analysis and processing, to minimize any impact on the post-production workflow.

All too often, after a few rounds of file compression and rendering, important resolution and color details can become muddied and shades can change abruptly due to chroma bleeding and artifacts.

The AI-driven plugin analyzes the image’s sub-sampling ratios to identify where the video image’s resolution and color information is impacted by compression artifacts and chroma bleeding which can result in a loss of detail and color accuracy.

The plugin then removes artifacts in channels that include 4:1:1, 4:2:0, and 4:2:2 color information while restoring and upscaling that chroma to 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 gamuts.

Chroma compression artifacts are also removed, with chroma bleeding minimized, and the Luma Channel is preserved. The result is what the company boasts are pristine 4:4:4 chroma videos that can be used in further visual effects manipulation without the loss of important detail.

Super Chroma AI also works with both SDR and HDR video footage, allowing users to boost legacy video files to make them sharper and more color-accurate.

The plugins are supported on Windows operating system version 7 and above and require a minimum of 4Gb of RAN, or 8Gb for multiple video and AI processing. Dedicated GPU cards with 6Gb are also recommended.

Pricing and availability

The SuperChroma AI is available as part of Acrovid’s NeoFootage AI and as a plugin for both Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. Currently, on sale during Acrovid’s “Cyber Week,” the NeoFootage AI Video Processor has a price of $94 while the regular price is $189.

Moreover, the AI Plugins Pack, which includes Super Bitdepth AI, is on sale for $44, down from $89. The perpetual license also comes with two years of free upgrades.

But users should act fast, the sale ends on November 30, 2023. Download a free full-featured trial version from Acrovid.com.
