Version 11.06 now offers camera-to-cloud support with secure reliable transport (SRT) streaming. For filmmakers, streaming has become an essential part of the workflow.

Even for cameras that don’t support this feature, relying on Atomos Ninja and Shogun monitor/recorders enables the ability to send original camera files to the cloud, which can greatly speed up the post-production process.

SRT, an open-source protocol developed by Haivision, provides secure, high-resolution transport streams with low latency over the public internet.

It optimizes video streaming when connected to an unpredictable network, using a simplified firewall concept to ensure high-quality video without jitter, packet loss, or bandwidth fluctuation during a sketchy connection.

The update introduces both caller and listener SRT modes, and the camera-to-cloud integration will provide 128/256-bit encryption with variable, adaptable bandwidth to ensure a smooth and stable streaming experience.

HD and 720p resolutions are supported, with frame rates ranging from 23.98 to 60 frames per second.

MediaSilo Integration

Additionally, Atomos has incorporated EditShare’s Media Silo application into Atomos Cloud Studio, providing users with direct access from within the app, easy configuration, and a user-friendly design.

EditShare CEO Ramu Potarazu expressed excitement about MediaSilo’s camera-to-cloud journey with Atomos, emphasizing the benefits for customers in terms of speed and flexibility.

Atomos also announced that purchasers of Atomos Connect (for Ninja V, V+, Ninja, or Ninja Ultra), a Shogun, or Shogun Ultra monitor recorder will automatically receive a free all-inclusive subscription to Cloud Studio and MediaSilo.

Furthermore, Atomos has added full support for Fujifilm F-Log2, improving the Rec 709/BT2020 color gamut for YCC video, ProRes Raw, and proxy recordings.

This enhancement promises more accurate color processing when capturing video and images using supported Fuji cameras, making the platform more attractive for content creators.

Availability and installation

The Atomos AtomOS 11.06.00 is available as a free download from the Atomos Support website for all supported Atomos Ninja and Shogun devices.

Atomos recommends that any Ninja Ultra device be plugged into the main power before beginning the firmware update. More details on the update procedure can be found here.
