Convergent Design‘s industry leading Odyssey7Q+ and predecessor Odyssey 7Q 4K recorders just got a massive list of new features in the latest firmware update 2015.11, which includes the highest quality ProRes flavour – 12bit 4444 XQ in 2K and HD, as well as HD Dual-Stream monitoring, New Canon C300 Mark II and C500 LUT’s, Panasonic GH4 and DVX200 Preset LUTs and some exciting additions to the Raw bundle option. The Colorado based gear maker has been really busy recently, not only updating their Odyssey line-up via a steady flow of firmware updates, but also managed to announce a brand new product called the Apollo – the industry’s 1st portable HD multi-camera recorder/switcher ($3,995 at B&H)
The Odyssey7Q+ is a very popular option with Sony FS700 and FS7 owners as it enables them to record 2K and 4K Raw in addition to getting high quality Raw to ProRes conversions. The upcoming and more budget-friendly Sony FS5 will also be supported by the Odyssey7Q+ and more importantly will be able to record the upcoming Raw from the FS5 coming via a future paid update possibly sometime in 2016. It’s important to stress the fact that although it has been confirmed by Sony, the Raw update is not likely to be available anytime soon according to a Sony rep I spoke with at a recent FS5 presentation.

HD Dual-Stream Monitoring

- View two SDI signals or one SDI & one HDMI (SDI A+SDI B or HDMI+SDI B)
- Select either input for recording (no switching during record)
Please Note:
- Both sources must match resolution, frame rate & cadence (ie, 1080, progressive, 30fps)
- Remove 3:2 pulldown is not supported at the this time (recorded as 60i)
- HDMI can only be paired with SDI B (overwrites SDI A)
- SDI A or HDMI must be present in order to see or record SDI B
- Dual-Stream Recording Option will come in a future firmware update
