If you are in the market for a new professional ultra-compact audio recorder paired with a high-performance lavalier mic for your professional productions in the studio or on the go, the brand new Tascam DR-10L portable mini-recorder has got you covered. Essentially, it’s a complete professional audio solution that provides not only uncompromised high-quality audio recording in a tiny package but also comes equipped with a top-notch omnidirectional lavalier with a mic clip and windscreen that connects to the recorder by a 63″ cable, which is affixed via a 1/8″ screw-down lock connector. No more radio interferences and wireless signal dropouts. The unit records linear PCM WAV files up to 24-bit/48Khz to microSD/SDHC cards up to 32GB. Building on the success of the DR-10X and the DR-10SG siblings, the Tascam DR-10L boasts even more neat features such as a built-in low-cut filter, limiter, automatic level function as well as an advanced time-track incrementing functionality that allows users to create new files at regular intervals during recording.

The ultra-compact audio recorder sports an onboard headphone output and playback function along with a high-contrast OLED screen that provides information on status, recording time, and battery level. There is also a micro USB (Type-B) Port as an alternative option to offload media. Just like most Tascam professional audio recorders, the DR-10L also has a dual recording function that records two tracks simultaneously, with the second at a lower level for a safety track in case of distortion or other input overloads.
Beyond that, the DR-10L can operate for up to whopping 10 hours continuously on a single AAA battery. Even if the battery runs out in the middle of a recording, the unit will automatically save the file before turning off. The case is designed so that the batteries can be changed quickly, without removing the recorder from the camera shoe mount or your talent. The DR-10L is expected to ship later this month with a retail price of $199. Currently, it can be pre-ordered from B&H for $169.
