Convergent Design just released a massive new firmware update v2016.10 for the company’s popular 4K Raw recorder Odyssey7Q+ and Apollo multi-camera recorder. The firmware includes major new functions such as the new Titan HD Extract, Varicam LT Raw, ProRes proxy and ARRIRAW 4:3. The Titan HD Extract (paid) option was announced last month at IBC 2016, and for those not yet familiar with this feature – it’s quite a revelation as it allows users to create 3 HD streams out of a single 4K camera, which can be quite useful for getting extra coverage without actually setting up multiple cameras. The cool thing with the Titan HD Extract option is that it is also available on the older Odyssey7Q model, and the newer Apollo multi-camera production recorder/switcher.
Also, other options such as Odyssey RAW Bundle or Apollo option are not required for Titan. The Titan HD Extract is a paid option available at an introductory price of $995 from Convergent saving you $300 off the regular price (until November 6th), however it does not require the Apollo or Odyssey RAW Bundle Options.

The long-awaited Varicam LT Raw addition to the Odyssey RAW Bundle is finally here; Convergent Design’s engineers worked closely with Panasonic to enable 4K RAW recording from the amazing Panasonic VariCam LT on the Odyssey7Q and Odyssey7Q+. If you already own the Odyssey Raw Bundle you only need to upgrade to firmware v2016.10. If you own a Varicam LT and an Odyssey7Q+, but don’t have the Raw bundle yet, you can buy it for $995 from Convergent Design here.

Other important new features in the latest firmware update v2016.10 are the inclusion of new LUTs for the latest Canon LOG3 (for C300 mark II) and revised LUT support for Sony FS5 with FS Raw. Apple ProRes proxy recording in 4:2:2 is now also supported, which is great news for editors, who are frequently using the smallest size ProRes flavour for offline editing.
